New Brand Alert: SAN SAN Gear Spring/Summer ‘23

Heavy in the midst of Spring/Summer, there’s no better time than now to embrace technical clothing in all its glory, despite what your preconceived ideas of seasons make you believe. Preparing its wearers for anything that is thrown at them, SAN SAN Gear has carefully tailored its offering to the kind of weather that we are used to during this time of year - a little bit of sun, some wind and plenty of rain. 

The Foundations of SAN SAN Gear

Part of the new wave of technical brands emerging from the Far East, SAN SAN Gear, alongside the likes of XLIM and J EONGL I, was founded a mere 4 years ago in 2019 during a time when functionality was still a rising desire for the customer and not the be-all and end-all where design was concerned.  Now, however, thanks to the kinds of labels we have just mentioned, they are able to implement elements of outdoor functionality into increasingly modern silhouettes, whether it’s bottoms, knitwear or jackets that take on cleaner, subdued cuts. 

This almost immediate rise in popularity for them and others can be attributed to a number of sources, namely the increasing interest in technical clothing and outdoor exploration among a devoted group of individuals forming a new-age subculture. By putting the two of them together - technical clothing and outdoor exploration - we are gifted the likes of SAN SAN which continues to forge a path of its own in this field. In addition, a common theme we are seeing from South Korean labels is a vested pursuit in driving material innovation forward and developing new textiles in the process fit the bill for those leading active lifestyles. Even down to its name, ‘San’ translating to ‘mountain’ in Korean, they are indebted to the surroundings that inspire its methodology and purpose - seeking out technologies from outdoor wear and infusing it into their creations, whether it be outerwear or bottoms.

Welcoming the brand into its arsenal for the first time, This Thing of Ours’ offering includes the Taped Hoodie, 3L Jacket, Sprinter Jacket, Welding Pants and Wide Snap Pants which all compromise the brand’s Spring/Summer ‘23, titled ‘Mercurial’ - a showcase of SAN SAN Gear’s evolving vision. For now, what can you expect from the latest drop? Plenty of lightweight technical fabrications, relaxed silhouettes and considered detailing to aid your day-to-day comings and goings.
