Puma - Beisser Trainer - Puma Black
Created by Mostro-designer Peter Schmidt the "Beisser" which translates as "Bites" comes from the Puma archive and was a shoe created back in 2005 in a time when designers and brands we're allowed to take risks outside of commercial terms to produce truly unique shoes. Originally only around 500 pairs were produced and this led to the shoe changing hands for many multiples of its original value when it became an iconic design, much sought after by fans of unique footwear.
Launching as a faithful re-release to mark its 20th anniversary the Beisser feels as fresh, innovative and as relevant as it did in 2005, marking a line between sportswear and elevated fashion that is once again at the forefront of footwear design. With teeth like lugs the sole unit takes inspiration from the bite of a Puma whilst the heelplate and heel cage provide stability. Premium suede , leather and wide mesh provide a fashion forward aesthetic on what is a super comfortable shoe to wear. It's low profile and somewhat climbing shoe like look works perfectly with clean and loose silhouettes from brands like J.L-A.L and Issey Miyake.
Hailed in footwear circles as one of the best examples of creative freedom that is somewhat forgotten in the modern age the Beisser is back in limited numbers for a super limited release. Time to bag a piece of footwear history, it might be another 20 years before the next chance.
