Introducing the Latest Tilak MiG and Poutnik Styles to This Thing of Ours
Written by Ali George Hinkins
Military-inspired clothing is by no means a new phenomenon. As is the case across the fashion spectrum, brands and designers source inspiration from a whole host of places including workwear, sportswear and military uniforms. It just so happens that military uniform, in particular, has been highly decorated and referenced by every Tom, Dick and Harry, except that some brands are paying homage better than others by either bringing those garments into a more fashion-forward environment or by borrowing design characteristics such as pocket configurations.
Taking this to the next level, Tilak’s MiG line goes one step further and specifically designs the garments that fall under this umbrella for military use, whether that be by police forces around the world or members of the armed services. Dubbed ‘Military Gear’, MiG is no joke, it is designed for professional use but over the years it has transcended that to enthusiasts of technical clothing for its synonymity with quality, refined designs with clean lines and minimal logos and unruly functionality.
Since day one, the Kamler family has been heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and maintained its responsibility to manufacture garments with purpose and consideration in Czechia. This is a little bit of trivia for those ACRONYM fans out there: if one of your pieces says ‘Made in Czech’, it is highly likely that it was made in one of Tilak’s manufacturing facilities.
For Autumn/Winter ‘22, This Thing of Ours will be stocking the Raptor MiG (with separate chest expander) and Siberia MiG, two outerwear styles that are designed for the most extreme weather conditions including the British winter. The Raptor MiG is their flagship model and it is constructed from a three-layer GORE-TEX® fabric that, straight up, speaks volumes about the capabilities and assurances of this jacket. It is equipped with an integrated ventilation system with WaterTight® pit zips in place to increase breathability, laminated zippers, AquaGuard® Vislon front zipper and Velcro patches for ID badge placement. In addition, the Expander can be used to increase the layering volume underneath in spite of its original purpose to wear a ballistic vest in conjunction with the shell. Whilst the Raptor keeps you dry, the Siberia is a very warm, but lightweight, hooded jacket with a number of exterior pockets, a Velcro ID patch and anatomically shaped sleeves. Either style can be worn with one another as a complex weather system or on their own depending on the weather. Only available in black.
To balance things out, This Thing of Ours will also be carrying a Tilak Poutnik style named the ‘CAW Jacket’ which sits more in the fashion-forward realm designed by a collective of designers like Errolson Hugh and Johanna Schneider. Constructed using a GORE-TEX fabric, the jacket boasts breathable and waterproof properties that allow the wearer to traverse freely throughout urban and rural areas without fear of succumbing to the natural elements. There is a stowable hood and a plethora of pockets located throughout. Available in a choice of Caviar Black and Windsor Wine.
The styles that have been mentioned above are available now online and in-store.
