Shielding from the Winter with norbit Autumn/Winter ‘22
Written by Ali George Hinkins
By this point, regulars to This Thing of Ours are as familiar with norbit as they are with the draught beer lineup down their local. For a number of seasons, This Thing of Ours has been a longstanding stockist of norbit and will continue to carry the brand into Autumn/Winter, despite the delivery being a little late.
For those who may be new around here, let’s give you a brief rundown of the brand. Spearheaded by Hiroshi Nozawa, a designer whose resume includes the likes of Snow Peak and Columbia Black Label, norbit is a Japanese label that references nature and the rural environment through its designs whether that be silhouettes or choice of fabric technologies. Somehow, everything that norbit touches turns to gold which is a real testament to Nozawa’s acumen as a designer.
Taking a small step back, the Autumn/Winter collection as a whole continues to run with forward momentum whilst refining its vision clearer each season to create modern garments that honour traditional fabrics and methods of craftsmanship. For example, norbit has somehow consistently found a way to fuse modern fabrics such as Cordura with knitted materials to achieve a hybrid product that marries functionality from both sides of the coin; it’s very refreshing and something that can be deeply appreciated when you handle the garments in person.
For its Autumn/Winter ‘22 delivery, This Thing of Ours is the recipient of a hearty array of goods that do wonders to demonstrate norbit’s design prowess. As we come to expect with this time of year, it is predominantly cold weather wear such as outerwear, knitwear and headwear to keep you protected from the elements. For example, the outerwear offering consists of mainstays like the Bush Down Anorak and Toggle Graduation Jacket with refined designs, as well as the likes of the Middle-Layer Down Jacket that prioritise warmth without compromising on aesthetic value.
Following suit of the expansive outerwear offering, This Thing of Ours will also be carrying the Cordura Knit Vest which is constructed using an interesting blend of Cordura nylon and cotton which is something I haven’t necessarily seen before on a knitted garment. Ideal for layering either underneath a shell or over a shirt, it features two removable water-repellent pockets. Lastly, the Wool Boa Cap does wonders to keep your bonnet warm.
