XLIM Episode 4
Written by Ali George Hinkins
For product enthusiasts like myself, and yourself, there are a couple of exciting periods throughout the fashion calendar that consistently pique your interest. This mainly coincides with the arrival of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter stock, as we lust over new arrivals from some of our favourite labels.
XLIM’s ‘Episode 4’ embodies the previous sentiment as well as any brand that This Thing of Ours stocks. Hailing from Seoul, South Korea, XLIM, headed up by designer and stylist, Do Hee Kim, has swiftly risen up through the ranks of an emerging wave of talent in the technical design sphere. But, to pigeonhole XLIM into being ‘just another technical apparel brand’ is nothing but a disservice to them.
Unlike any brand I have seen before, XLIM couples function and fabrication like no other. Their designs are characterised by contrasting panels of technical and luxurious fabrics, often marrying the two to maximise their unique properties and highlight specific details. In a time where it feels like it’s hard to be original, XLIM elevates seemingly ordinary silhouettes through their material choice. On their 01 Fleece Jacket from Episode 4, for example, they combine polyester with a waffle-like grid fabric and corduroy which is an unconventional mix, but something that just works. That’s the XLIM universe for you.
This season marks This Thing of Ours’ most expansive array of XLIM products yet, totalling 18 styles across accessories, bottoms, tops, jackets and sweaters. From knitted sweaters to windbreakers, neck warmers and fleece jackets, each piece is embedded with XLIM’s refined design language.
Available to purchase now from This Thing of Ours’ new (ish) store and their online store where they offer global shipping.
