New Brand Alert: GR10K Spring/Summer ‘23

Founded in 2017, GR10K may seem like the new kid on the block and while that is true to an extent, the brand is steeped in nearly a century’s worth of history courtesy of its parent company, Grassi Alfreda SPA. For context, Grassi SPA is an Italian manufacturing company that was founded in 1925 and has spent the best part of the last century producing workwear and military uniforms. Spurred on by Anna Grassi, the grandaughter of the brand’s founder, GR10K acknowledges Grassi’s heritage in workwear and materials while delivering a more stimulating project than re-hashed silhouettes from the past. Suffice it to say, GR10K is in good hands.
As mentioned, while Grassi’s workwear roots are important, they aren’t the be-all-and-all of GR10K’s work. Instead, we see the highly technical label leaning on influences from industrial design, architecture, art and photography - it is a multi-faceted process that delivers genuinely unique, functional wares. Never compromising on its integrity, outerwear, bottoms, tops and more are constructed from a functional angle often incorporating GORE-TEX technology and seam taping, as well as consideration for ergonomics. In previous collections, we have seen GR10K utilise synthetic fabrics like Kevlar and Aramid which are usually used in military and workwear contexts given their exceptional durability and heat resistance, and reappropriate them in their own way with little regard to conforming to industry expectations.
Due to its backing of sorts from Grassi SPA, GR10K is in the unique position where they have access to an array of deadstock materials and fabrics to hand-pick from which gives them a new lease of life and keeps them in circulation. It’s a new brand for us with a rock-solid foundation and a greener approach to design - what isn’t there to love?
